About Us
COTS Training is a leading training provider delivering high-quality courses in the Transport & Logistics, Plant & Construction and Industrial Training sector based in South Wales with training centres in Llandarcy and Briton Ferry.
Founded in 2009 by its current Managing Director Jason Mowforth, COTS was initially established to provide comprehensive and relevant training courses that comply with the requirements of the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) Regulations, compliance advice on Operator Licensing and tachograph analysis in South Wales.
COTS experienced significant success with the Driver CPC and other foundation courses and were successful in achieving the OCR accreditation to deliver Certificate of Professional Competence for both LGV and PSV Transport Managers. In addition to the provision of these training courses, COTS increased services that help operators comply with the undertakings made on an Operator Licence such as a Traffic Commissioner accepted Operator Licence Awareness Training (OLAT) Course.
The ADR – Dangerous Goods and other practical courses including LGV driver licence acquisition for categories B+E, C and C+E and practical training for HIAB, tail lift, gantry crane and shunter training were also added. COTS have successfully maintained both SQA and OCR Grade 1 status for the past 6 years and operate an IT suit where online testing for ADR and Transport Manager CPC can be completed giving instant results to our candidates. We also operate our own LGV test centres in Llandarcy.
With many years of combined experience our team, which consists of 27 members of staff each with a talent for administration or the operational side of Transport & Logistics, Plant & Construction and Industrial Training, are capable of providing custom solutions to your training needs.
At COTS training centres, we offer high-quality independent courses that are scheduled on a regular basis. Our courses have been designed for effective collaboration between the candidate and instructor which enables them to meet the particular outcome of the training course.
COTS are also members of NDGTC (The National Dangerous Goods Training Consortium), which is recognised by the DfT, DSA and SQA and consists of a group of nationally distributed training centres. To become an NDGTC member and obtain DfT approval, training organisations have to meet laid down standards for facilities, equipment and instructor qualifications that ensure the quality of service. As a member of NDGTC, COTS provide high quality Dangerous Goods Training delivered by experienced instructors covering Core, Packages, Tanks and classes 2,3,4,5,6,8 & 9.
Our practical and plant training are delivered under the RTITB or NPORS Accreditation schemes – RTITB & NPORS are approved and listed as an accrediting organisation by the Health & Safety Commission (HSC) in the Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) for Lift Truck Operator Training.
In 2023, we expanded and moved into new premises just off the M4 in Briton Ferry. The Railside Training Centre is wholly dedicated to Plant & Lifting and boasts a 12m scaffolding tower, road-roller area and large area dedicated to excavators and dumpers.
Commercial Training is at the core of our business, working with some of Wales’ largest organisations and with customers throughout the UK; quality is integral in what we do, meaning COTS are extremely well placed to provide relevant solutions to your needs.
