***THE BELOW IS A RECENT BULLETIN POSTED BY THE DVSA***
As we told you on 16 September, some rules about learning to drive a lorry are going to change later in 2021.
The changes affect:
staging requirements for lorry and bus licences
the off-road manoeuvres part of vocational driving tests being done by third-parties
Subject to Parliamentary processes, both changes will be introduced on Monday 15 November 2021.
We've updated the guidance on GOV.UK about how the changes work. It includes new information about what you or your pupils will need to do if you or they already have a provisional licence for category C and want a provisional CE licence.
We'll continue to keep you updated as we prepare for the changes next month.
Changes to car and trailer tests
As we told you in September there will be new rules about towing a trailer or caravan with a car later in 2021.
The new rules will mean that people who passed their car driving test from 1 January 1997 will be allowed to tow trailers up to 3,500kg maximum authorised mass (MAM).
Subject to Parliamentary processes, this change will be introduced on Monday 15 November 2021.
We've updated the guidance on GOV.UK about how the changes work.
