Who Should Attend

Drivers with “acquired rights” (sometimes known as “grandfather rights”) who passed their test before September 2008 (PCV), or before September 2009 (LGV). Drivers who need to acquire 7 hours towards their 35 hours of periodic training.

Course Outline
To provide delegates with a knowledge and understanding of Drivers’ Hours regulations, the Working Time Directive and Domestic Legislation. The course includes the use of analogue and digital tachograph equipment, including the opportunity to use our digital tachograph simulator.

A classroom based course supplemented with tutorials and videos.

Additional Information
In order to claim Driver Certifcate of Professional Competence credit, delegates attending this course must have a valid licence for categories C, C1, C1+E, C+E, D, D1, D1+E or D+E and must present a driving licence when attending the course. COTS are fully approved by JAUPT to deliver Driver CPC periodic training.

  • Requirements of and exemptions from Driver CPC

  • Exemptions from EU 561/2006 (the drivers hours regulations)

  • A detailed examination of the EU drivers’ regulations

  • The Working Time Directive and how it affects drivers subject to and exempt from EU561/2006

  • British domestic rules

  • Identifcation of drivers’ hours and tachograph infringements

  • The main features of and how to use an analogue tachograph

  • The main features of and how to use a digital tachograph including downloading requirements for both driver and vehicle data

  • A brief look at the Graduated Fixed Penalty system
