Course Overview
The Warehouse Racking Inspection course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills to identify, assess, and report damage or safety issues in warehouse racking systems. Designed for warehouse supervisors, safety officers, and designated inspection personnel, this course ensures compliance with health and safety regulations. By the end of the course, learners will be able to carry out routine visual inspections and support the safe use and maintenance of storage systems. Course Objectives / Learning Outcomes
- Understand the legal and safety requirements relating to warehouse racking (e.g. PUWER, HSE guidance etc.)
- Recognise the different types of racking systems and their components
- Identify signs of damage, wear, overloading, and improper installation
- Learn how to conduct systematic visual racking inspections
- Understand load signage, safe working loads, and layout documentation
- Record and categorise faults using a colour-coded risk system (e.g. green/amber/red)
- Know when to escalate issues and remove racking from service
- Complete inspection reports accurately and maintain proper documentation
- Apply best practices in racking maintenance and housekeeping
Assessment Methods
This course is assessed through a combination of classroom-based instruction, visual case studies, and a written theory quiz. Learners may also participate in a simulated or live racking inspection exercise.
Additional Information
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have an adequate level of English literacy. A basic understanding of warehouse operations is recommended but not essential.
