RTITB Pallet / Stacker Truck (LTG4)
Course Overview
This RTITB-accredited course provides learners with the skills and knowledge needed to operate electric pallet / stacker trucks safely and efficiently. Designed for use in warehousing, retail, and manufacturing environments, the course is suitable for both novice and experienced operators. It focuses on manoeuvring, stacking, load handling, and operator safety to help reduce incidents and ensure compliance with current legislation.

Course Objectives / Learning Outcomes
- Understand the legal responsibilities of electric pallet stacker truck operators
- Identify the main components, controls, and safety systems of the machine
- Conduct pre-use inspections and report faults in accordance with guidelines
- Operate the machine safely in confined and open spaces
- Stack and unstack palletised loads at various heights
- Maintain load stability during lifting, transportation, and lowering
- Use safe working practices in environments with pedestrians and obstacles
- Apply correct shutdown and parking procedures
Experience Levels
- Novice – No prior Electric Pallet / Stacker Truck experience. Suitable for beginners who haven’t operated any kind of Electric Pallet / Stacker Truck before.
- Existing – Operators who have used a Electric Pallet / Stacker Truck informally or under supervision but lack formal training or certification. Some hands-on experience is expected.
- Refresher – For those with prior formal Electric Pallet / Stacker Truck training who need to renew certification, typically after 3–5 years, a break in usage, or following a workplace incident.
- Conversion – For certified operators of a different type of pallet / stacker truck. Requires documented evidence prior to training and relevant operational experience.
ABA Categories
Each course will be run using ONE of the following categories, please ensure you book the course that uses the category you require.
- A1 – Pedestrian: Pallet; stillage; low lift platform & low lift order-picking trucks
- A2 – Rider: Pallet; stillage; low lift platform & low lift order-picking trucks
- A3 – Pedestrian: Counterbalance lift trucks
- A4 – Rider: Rider Pallet Stackers
- A5 – Pedestrian: Pallet stackers
- A6 – Pedestrian: Straddle trucks
- A7 – Pedestrian: Reach trucks
Assessment Methods
Assessment includes a written theory test and a practical performance evaluation. Candidates must demonstrate competency in both knowledge and hands-on operation to receive certification.
Additional Information
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, physically capable of operating powered lifting equipment, and able to follow verbal and written instructions. An adequate level of English literacy is required to fully engage with the training and assessments. This course can also be offered as an in-house COTS Certification.
