NPORS Forward Tipping Mini Dumper up to 1 Tonne (N139)

Course Overview

This NPORS course provides thorough training on the safe and efficient use of forward tipping mini dumpers up to 1 tonne. It is suitable for operatives working in construction, landscaping, and groundwork industries who need to transport loads in confined or residential sites. This course prepares learners for entry-level plant operator roles involving compact dumper operations.

Course Objectives / Learning Outcomes

• Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
• Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
• Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
• Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
• Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
• Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for forward tipping mini dumper use
• Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
• Prepare the forward tipping mini dumper for use and operate safely and efficiently
• Attachments set correctly ready for operation
• Environmental considerations
• Storage and transport of forward tipping mini dumper / implements / attachments
• Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures

Assessment Methods

This course is assessed through a combination of classroom-based theory and hands-on practical training. Learners are evaluated via a written theory quiz and a practical skills assessment.

Additional Information

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, in good physical health, and capable of meeting the demands of practical training. An adequate level of English literacy is also required to fully engage with the course content and assessments. This course can also be offered as an in-house COTS Certification.
