IPAF Training (3a, 3b)
Course Overview
We are partnering with Harris Safety in the delivery of this course.
This one-day IPAF-accredited 3a & 3b course provides training for the safe and competent operation of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs). It is designed for individuals who operate powered access equipment as part of their job and need certification for compliance with health and safety regulations. This training is suitable for a range of industries including construction, facilities management, warehousing, and utilities.
Course Objectives / Learning Outcomes
- Understand and follow safe operational procedures for MEWPs
- Prevent workplace accidents through correct handling and awareness
- Execute safe emergency descent protocols
- Carry out pre-use testing and inspection routines
- Recognise and apply legal responsibilities of employers and employees
MEWP Categories
- Mobile Vertical (3a, 3a+): Scissor lifts, vertical personnel platforms (mobile)
- Mobile Boom (3b, 3b+): Self-propelled booms
Assessment Methods
Assessment includes a written theory test and practical evaluation to IPAF Standards. Operators must achieve competency in all assessed elements, including safe setup, lifting, and shutdown procedures, to receive certification.
Additional Information
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, in good physical health, and capable of meeting the demands of practical training. An adequate level of English literacy is also required to fully engage with the course content and assessments. This course can also be offered as an in-house COTS Certification.
